Mommy & Me Spa Day

Spring is the perfect time for a relaxing and rejuvenating spa day to help revitalize your body and mind. It’s also the perfect one-on-one mother/daughter bonding time.

At-Home

An at-home day of soothing spa fun is much cheaper than going to a day spa or on a spa retreat. You and your kiddo can do versions of all of those trendy spa retreat activities and treatments in the comfort of your own home. Here’s a few ideas to get you started.

Spa Salt Scrub—A quick, kitchen-friendly recipe to get those manicures and pedicures going:

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ c. Sea Salt
  • 6 Tbsp. Extra-virgin Olive Oil
  • 3 Lemons

Directions:

Mix the salt and oil together in a small bowl. Cut the lemons in half and squeeze the juice into the bowl. Stir together until well blended. Keeps in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Spa Facial—Get out the beach towels and make spa beds. Use a pillow or a rolled up towel to support the neck. Take turns applying a fun facemask like this one and then close your eyes, lay back and relax for 10 or 15 minutes. Talk or listen to soothing music. Don’t forget the sliced cucumbers for your eyes!

Strawberry Facemask – Simply blend these three ingredients together.

  • 4 Strawberries, cut up into small pieces.
  • ¼ c. plain yogurt
  • 1 tsp. Oats

DIY Spa Water—Make a batch of fancy spa water and toast to your relaxing day together. Try fun combinations of favorite fruits and herbs. Just throw everything into a pitcher and mull (or squash the ingredients around a little) the fruits, veggies and herbs. Our favorites: Pineapple, strawberry and basil water or Cucumber, lemon and mint water. Yum!

Spa Lunch—Small munchies are perfect for a mommy and me spa day. Pre-make things like crust-less tea sandwiches, fruit kabobs and raw veggies. Ice cream, ices or fruity popsicles are the perfect spa dessert.

Spa Cupcake—Another fun idea—and one without any sugar. Make these adorable DIY spa sock cupcakes from Pinterest for a fun keepsake of your day together.

  1. A Lollipop as the cupcake topper (or the bottle of nail polish you will use for manis or pedis)
  2. Spa socks/fuzzy socks as the frosted cupcake
  3. Coffee cozy as the cupcake wrapper

Spa Retreat Fitness—End your spa day with some kid-friendly yoga or a bike ride or hike. Something refreshing you can both enjoy doing together. Make it a family fitness routine for more cherish-able moments.
