Schools out and summer is here; it’s one of our favorite times of year! Summer hair and fashion trends for kids are all about long days filled with sunshine, fun and a lot of movement. Take a look at our top picks and kids summer fashion ideas.
Girls Summer Trends
Girls are keeping cool this season with sundresses in light cotton and linen fabrics. Natural colors like beige, cream and sand meet pastel, water-color shades. Yellow is a carry-over from spring, but in a subtler lemon shade. Look for water-color like drawings with indistinct designs and patterns on clothing, and an uptick in folksy decorated fabrics, beads and appliques.
Trendy girl’s hairstyles are a continuation from much of 2016: braids, braids and more braids. Short, medium and long length hair can all use a braid, twist or two. Expect beachy looks with some intricacy. The knotted ponytail, waterfall braid and heart-part are very popular. Kiddos are also adding ribbons, beads and tinsel to braids, ponytails and buns this season for some whimsical fun.
Boys Summer Trends
Boys are decked out in blues and greens with pops of yellow and purple, along with soft, neutral tones like cream and coffee. Shorts, shirts and convertible pants or pants-transformers are key boy’s trends this season. Boy’s fashion is following Men’s fashion—the Mini-me father/son looks are the most popular. Graphics on t-shirts, infant onesies and shorts are trending towards cacti, dessert and tropical leaves.
Boy’s haircuts are leaning toward beachy, summer awesome. The pompadour with the hard line part, the faux hawk and the cool undercut with straight spike are all fashion forward, easy to wear and easy to style during the hot summer months.
