Start Of Summer
Posted on:
For many, school is almost done for the year and kids will be on vacation for the summer. With all that extra time and warmer weather, there are so many opportunities to spend time together and we thought we’d share some of our personal favorite summertime activities.
- Beautiful days with a light breeze are great for flying a kite. Once you have your kite, find a large and open area free of trees and power line to ensure the kite has plenty of room to fly and more importantly you and your child’s safety. Then simply, hold the string of the kite and run with it behind you until the wind lifts it up into the air! When you want the kite to come down, just wind the kite string around the spool and then grab the kite before it hits the ground to avoid any damage.
- For those hot and humid days, there is nothing quite like refreshing cool water! While a dip in a pool is always nice, we are fond of running through a sprinkler in our own backyard. Just set whatever kind of sprinkler you have with your hose in the yard and you are good to go! This is a less messy and complicated way of cooling off compared to setting up or even going to a pool. Remember to apply sunscreen, preferably waterproof to protect you and your children against sun damage.
- During the summer, the weather is often most comfortable at night. On a nice clear night, we recommend exploring the moon and the stars with your children before bedtime. It’s a great way to teach them about the phases of the moon, but more importantly it’s a time to share with your children the priceless wonder of a starry night.
