Snip-its Haircuts for Kids Opens in Houston, TX
Salon Offers Children’s Haircuts, Spa Services, Entertainment, Retail, Parties and More.
Houston, TX (July 12, 2012) – Snip-its (www.snipits.com), one of the country’s fastest-growing chains of children’s hair salons, has opened in the Memorial area of Houston, TX on July 5, 2012. Owned by local couple (and parents), Alane and Wesley Middleton, Snip-its will be the Houston metro area’s seventh kids-only salon and will offer: haircuts; spa services; birthday parties; a retail space with hair care products, toys and accessories; and more. The salon is located on 12512 Memorial Drive, between CVS and Rice Epicurean.
The salon offers a creative destination for children’s haircuts in a fun environment with specially trained stylists. The salon will also feature a party room for birthday, karaoke and spa parties. The salon interior features a cast of Snip-its’ own branded animated cartoon characters: Snips, Jean Luc le Spritz, Curly Comb, Flyer Joe Dryer, the Clip-ette Sisters andMaranga Mirror. Plus, animated videos, salon-tailored educational computer games and parent chairs so parents can sit nearby. At the end of each visit, children receive a prize in exchange for a lock of hair from the “Magic Box.”
Snip-its salons have long been supporting families and children with autism. The Snip-its Corporation, together with Autism Speaks, created a haircutting guide and educational DVD for stylists and parents of children with autism to help prepare kids for the salon experience. All of Snip-its’ stylists are trained to work with children with autism and other special needs. Snip-its Memorial will allow parents of children with special needs to make haircut appointments on an on-going basis (appointments generally are not accepted).
First launched in 1995 by founder Joanna Meiseles, Snip-its has since been revolutionizing the hair care industry by crating a branded entertainment concept designed to untangle the hair-care challenges of children. Currently, Snip-its has 65 locations in 26 U.S. states. This Houston location will be the eleventh location of this franchise in Texas.
A Cut Above the Rest
With life-size characters, music and games, Snip-its has turned what was once a tedious chore into an amazing adventure, filled with fun, games and excitement. Upon entering the salon, parents and children step into a magical cartoon world of adventure characterized by floor-to-ceiling cartoon murals and vibrant splashy colors. In the waiting area, they can enjoy the Snip-its show, featuring a whimsical cast of cartoon characters; play with toys; or browse the retail space filled with a selection of natural hair care products, specialty toys and gifts, and hair and fashion accessories. Each cutting station includes a special parent chair, and an entertainment station featuring computer games and activities for the little ones. Upon completion of the haircut, children insert a lock of hair into the “Snip-its Magic Box” for a prize.
Snip-its Houston also offers a “baby’s first haircut” package, which includes a special keepsake for that first lock of hair, a first haircut certificate, and a commemorative photo and holder.
It’s My Party…
In addition to hair care, the Houston location will offer spa services, such as mini-manicures, mini-pedicures and mini-facials using kid-friendly cosmetics and nail polish; birthday parties; and events. For birthday parties, children will be able to select from one of three fun-filled-themes, including:
- Hollywood Glamour Party – This is for the little star who belongs on the red carpet. After the birthday child and his/her entourage get their movie-star makeover with a party hair style, make-up, nails and wardrobe, they take a walk down the red carpet while surrounded by paparazzi.
- Spa Party – Pampered is the key word here. The birthday child and guests wear plush robes for an afternoon of cucumber facials, mini manicures and/or mini pedicures.
- Rock Star Party – Kids dreaming of becoming the next Hannah Montana or Justin Bieber will love this party theme, which includes getting the “rock-star treatment” of a funky hairstyle, make-up, nails and accessories. The little Rock Star then jams to karaoke tunes with his/her biggest fans.
All parties include invitations, birthday cake, favors, and a special gift for the birthday child.
