Frequently Asked Questions
What qualifications does Snip-its seek in its prospective franchisees?
The following qualifications, among others, are essential in order to be considered for a Snip-its franchise:
- A strong desire to succeed through operational excellence.
- The capability and capacity to create and manage an organization that effectively recruits, trains, retains, and motivates people.
- The ability to manage finances.
- The ability to market Snip-its effectively.
- US Citizen or resident alien.
How much cash or liquid assets will I need?
The minimum requirements for a Snip-its franchise are $50K liquid assets and $250K net worth. We prefer higher amounts and take financial stability into serious consideration when reviewing franchisee qualifications.
Does Snip-its help with financing?
Snip-its has taken significant steps to ease the process of financing your franchise investment. We work with several preferred lenders who offer competitive and flexible financing options. Snip-its is also registered with the SBA.
May I obtain the funds for a franchise from a relative, friend, or associate?
A single candidate must personally meet the financial qualifications, however if a partnership or corporation is formed, it is the total financial strength of the business that must meet the minimum financial requirements.
What are the franchise fees?
A one-time $25,000 initial franchise fee is charged for your first unit. In your first year of operations, you will pay a royalty fee equal to 5% of your gross receipts. After your first year, the royalty fee will increase to 6% and remain at 6% thereafter.
How much money can I make?
Profitability will vary considerably depending on such factors as sales, location, occupancy and operating costs, financing terms, your ability to manage and control the business, and many other factors. We do not predict sales or profits for any new locations.
What should I look for in a store location?
By visiting our Real Estate page, you will learn the basic site characteristics and demographics required for a Snip-its salon. These are just a few of the many criteria to look for in a site. There are many additional steps necessary before we approve a site for development as a new store location. We encourage you to begin the site selection process early, however you may only sign a lease once you have officially become a Snip-its franchisee.
Why should I open a Snip-its salon instead of trying it on my own?
Leveraging Snip-its brand equity and the expertise and systems we have developed gives you the best possible chance for success. Snip-its is one of the most innovative, all-inclusive retail experiences in the hair care market today, and our model has proven superior to our competitors. We are committed to your success - your success is our success, and all of us together are stronger than any one of us alone.
Do I need hair salon experience to open and operate a Snip-its salon?
No. In fact, we prefer management, general business, or marketing experience to hair care experience. Many Snip-its franchisees are first-time business owners. A passion for the brand, commitment to excellence, desire to succeed, and willingness to learn are all you need to be a successful Snip-its franchisee.
Do I need to actually work in my store(s)?
Yes. Although we do not require a full-time commitment, you must be willing to work in your store and remain continuously involved in the day-to-day operations of your business. Because our salons are open seven days a week, it is possible to keep your regular job and manage your Snip-its business during off-hours and weekends, however the more time the franchisee spends on site, the better the salon tends to run. The Snip-its Management Portal also allows you flexibility in managing your salon remotely.
What is Snip-its position on franchising to minorities?
Since the inception of our franchise program, Snip-its has actively sought out those individuals who are most qualified, regardless of gender, national origin, or religion. We are proud to say that our franchisees come from all walks of life.
What type of training will I have to attend before I open my salon?
You will be required to successfully complete the five-day Snip-its Management Training Seminar in Massachusetts prior to opening your salon. For further information on our training programs, visit the Training page of this website or review the training section of the UFOC.
How will Snip-its help me market my salon?
Snip-its will assist you with all your marketing needs. We provide national campaigns to all of our franchisees, and we will provide a grand opening advertising package specifically for your trade area. In addition, Snip-its handles production and strategic assistance with your on-going local advertising efforts.
